Zoho Books Is Now an FTA-Approved ASP for UAE E-Invoicing
Zoho Books Is Now an FTA-Approved ASP for UAE E-Invoicing

By Akanksha Surana, CEO and Owner at Perfonec Computers  |  Updated September 2026

Quick Answer

Zoho Books is now an FTA-approved ASP. Therefore, UAE Peppol e-invoicing works directly within Zoho Books — no external ASP subscription needed. When you confirm a B2B invoice, the PINT AE XML is created and sent through the UAE Peppol network directly from within Zoho Books itself.

What Changed — Before and After ASP Approval

Verdict: Before this approval, Zoho Books needed an external FTA-approved ASP to connect to the UAE Peppol network. However, Zoho Books is now an approved ASP itself. As a result, the whole Peppol e-invoicing process works directly inside Zoho Books.

The Key Differences at a Glance

Before — External ASP Needed Now — Zoho Books Is the ASP
External ASP subscription required No external ASP needed — ever
Extra monthly ASP cost on top of licence No extra ASP cost — included in Zoho Books
ASP had to be selected and set up separately No ASP selection or setup process needed
Invoice data left Zoho Books to reach ASP first PINT AE XML created and sent directly from Zoho Books
Two vendors to manage — Zoho Books and ASP One platform, one vendor — Zoho Books does everything

How Direct Peppol E-Invoicing Works in Zoho Books Now

Verdict: Your team does nothing new. After setup, the whole Peppol process runs in the background every time an invoice is confirmed in Zoho Books.

The Invoice Journey — Step by Step

Step What Happens Who Handles It
1 Invoice confirmed in Zoho Books Your team — same as always
2 Zoho Books creates PINT AE XML directly Zoho Books — automatic
3 Zoho Books checks all 17 PINT AE fields Zoho Books — automatic
4 PINT AE XML sent through UAE Peppol directly Zoho Books — automatic

Cost Impact — What You Pay Now

Verdict: Before this approval, Zoho Books users paid for a Zoho Books licence plus a separate ASP subscription. Now, the ASP is built in. Therefore, there is no extra ASP cost on Professional, Premium, and Elite plans.

How Zoho Books Now Compares to Other UAE Platforms

Verdict: Zoho Books now joins TallyPrime 7.0 as a platform with direct built-in Peppol e-invoicing. Furthermore, both platforms carry no external ASP subscription cost. In contrast, QuickBooks, Odoo, and Sage still need an outside ASP — however, Perfonec manages all of these.

What You Still Need to Set Up

⚠️ Important: Zoho Books being an approved ASP does not mean e-invoicing is automatically ready in your account. You still need to configure Zoho Books for UAE e-invoicing. Perfonec handles all of this as the authorised Zoho Partner in UAE.

The Setup Checklist

  • Plan check — UAE e-invoicing works on Professional, Premium, and Elite plans only. Standard plan needs upgrading.
  • PINT AE data audit — all 17 mandatory PINT AE fields must be correctly set up in Zoho Books. Perfonec checks and fixes every gap.
  • VAT code mapping — all Zoho Books tax rates must be mapped to PINT AE codes S, Z, E, and O. Perfonec sets this up.
  • Enable direct Peppol — the direct Peppol connection must be turned on and set up in Zoho Books settings. Perfonec handles this.
  • Pilot testing — all invoice types tested through the direct Peppol connection during the pilot phase. No fines apply during testing.
  • Team training — your accounts team trained on the Zoho Books Peppol dashboard and invoice status labels.

UAE E-Invoicing Deadlines

Business Type Go-Live Date Fines Begin
Revenue AED 50M or above 1 January 2027 2 January 2027
All other VAT SMEs 1 July 2027 2 July 2027
Pilot phase — all businesses From 1 July 2026 No fines
Fine reminder: AED 5,000/month for not going live. AED 100/invoice capped at AED 5,000/month. However, the pilot phase from 1 July 2026 has zero fines. Therefore, start your Zoho Books direct Peppol setup now.

Common Questions

Does Zoho Books now work like TallyPrime 7.0 for UAE e-invoicing?

Yes. Both Zoho Books and TallyPrime 7.0 now have direct Peppol e-invoicing built in — with no external ASP subscription needed. However, they are different in setup. TallyPrime 7.0 has a native Peppol access point within the software. Zoho Books is itself now an approved ASP with a direct Peppol connection. Both require proper configuration by Perfonec before go-live.

Do I still need to do anything to set up e-invoicing in Zoho Books?

Yes. Zoho Books being an approved ASP does not automatically turn on e-invoicing in your account. You still need the PINT AE data audit, VAT code mapping, UN/CEFACT unit codes, and direct Peppol enabled in your Zoho Books settings. Therefore, contact Perfonec for a free readiness check before your deadline.

Which Zoho Books plan do I need for UAE e-invoicing?

You need Professional (~AED 110/month), Premium (~AED 165/month), or Elite (~AED 220/month). The Standard plan and the Free tier do not support the direct Peppol connection. Additionally, if you are currently on Standard, you need to upgrade before setup can begin.

Does this affect businesses already using Zoho Books with an external ASP?

Yes. If you already set up an external ASP for your Zoho Books account, you can now move to the direct Peppol connection built into Zoho Books. As a result, you no longer need the external ASP subscription. Contact Perfonec to migrate your setup to the direct connection.

Do fines apply to free zone Zoho Books users?

Yes. All UAE VAT-registered free zone businesses — DMCC, JAFZA, IFZA, DIFC, ADGM, RAKEZ — are in scope for UAE mandatory e-invoicing. Furthermore, a free zone licence gives no exemption from the fine schedule under Cabinet Decision No. 106 of 2025.
