Quick Answer
TallyPrime is a back-office system for UAE restaurants, not a front-counter till. It handles stock, purchasing, outlet costing, UAE VAT, and payroll behind your POS. Consequently, TallyPrime 7.0 also covers Peppol e-invoicing for the sales and purchases that need it.
| Walk-in diners (B2C) | Relief — no Peppol needed |
| Corporate catering (B2B) | Peppol required |
| Supplier purchases | Peppol required — incoming |
| Go-live deadline | 1 Jan 2027 (AED 50M+) | 1 Jul 2027 (SMEs) |
What this guide covers: where TallyPrime fits next to your POS, key features for multi-outlet stock and costing, which F&B sales need Peppol, and the PINT AE data issues restaurants must fix. By Perfonec — Authorised Silver Partner for TallyPrime.

TallyPrime and Your POS — How They Work Together
Most UAE restaurants therefore run two layers. The POS serves the dining room. TallyPrime runs the back office.
How sales reach TallyPrime depends on your POS. Some businesses post a daily summary voucher, while others use an integration. Perfonec confirms the right method during the free readiness check.
| Layer | System | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| Front counter | Your restaurant POS | Orders, tables, kitchen display, card payments, receipts to diners |
| Back office | TallyPrime | Sales posting, stock, purchases, outlet costing, UAE VAT, payroll, bank reconciliation |
| E-invoicing | TallyPrime 7.0 native Peppol | B2B invoices and incoming supplier invoices through UAE Peppol |
Key TallyPrime Features for UAE Restaurants and F&B
Stock and Multi-Outlet Management
Multiple godowns represent the central kitchen, each outlet, and the cold and dry stores. Stock transfers between them keep a full movement history. Furthermore, batch and expiry tracking covers dairy, meat, seafood, and packaged goods.
Stock journals record wastage, spoilage, and staff meals against the right outlet. Cost centres then show sales and cost by outlet, brand, or cloud kitchen. Additionally, Bill of Materials and stock journals support recipe-style costing for key dishes.
- Godowns for central kitchen, each outlet, cold store, and dry store
- Stock transfers with full movement history
- Batch and expiry tracking for perishables
- Reorder levels so purchasing sees low stock before service
- Stock journals for wastage, spoilage, and staff meals
- Cost centres by outlet, brand, or cloud kitchen
- Recipe-style costing through Bill of Materials and stock journals
Purchasing and Supplier Control
Purchase orders and goods receipt run against approved suppliers. Landed cost adds freight, customs, and clearing to imported ingredients. As a result, the true cost of specialty items stays clear.
Delivery aggregator commission invoices also count as supplier bills. Posting them correctly supports proper VAT recovery. Moreover, supplier ageing helps plan payments around busy weeks.
- Purchase orders and goods receipt for food and packaging suppliers
- Supplier TRN on every supplier record
- Landed cost for imported ingredients
- Multi-currency purchasing in USD or EUR
- Supplier ageing for payment planning
- Aggregator commission invoices posted as supplier bills
UAE VAT, Payroll and Month-End
Daily cash and card summaries post outlet-wise, so daily sales reporting stays clear. Bank and card settlement reconciliation then matches POS card totals to bank credits.
Payroll covers kitchen and service staff with attendance-based salary processing. Furthermore, UAE Corporate Tax at 9% runs through standard ledgers and reports.
- UAE VAT 5% with VAT 201 data compiled from vouchers
- Service charge ledgers — confirm VAT treatment with your tax advisor
- Payroll for kitchen and service staff
- Card settlement reconciliation against bank credits
- Daily cash and card summaries posted outlet-wise
- UAE Corporate Tax 9% through standard ledgers
UAE E-Invoicing for F&B — Which Sales Need Peppol
✅ The F&B key point: most restaurant revenue is B2C — walk-in diners, delivery orders, and takeaway. Consumer sales do NOT go through Peppol. However, Peppol applies when you invoice another VAT-registered business, such as corporate catering, office lunch contracts, and hotel and event supply. It also applies when suppliers invoice you. For many restaurants, the biggest Peppol workload is therefore on the purchase side.
| F&B Scenario | Peppol Needed? | What TallyPrime 7.0 Does |
|---|---|---|
| Walk-in diner or takeaway customer | No — B2C relief | Normal receipt and VAT posting |
| Delivery app consumer order | No — B2C relief | Posted as sales; the aggregator settles net of commission |
| Corporate lunch contract to a VAT-registered company | Yes | PINT AE XML sent through Peppol — buyer TRN required |
| Event or hotel catering invoice | Yes | Standard B2B e-invoice through Peppol |
| Catering to a JAFZA, DMCC, or IFZA office | Yes | Free zone beneficiary field populated |
| Credit note for a corporate order | Yes | Credit note type 381, original invoice in BT-25 |
| Food or packaging supplier invoice to you | Yes — incoming | Received as Peppol e-invoice and validated into TallyPrime |
| Delivery aggregator commission invoice to you | Yes — incoming | B2B purchase invoice — supplier TRN needed |
PINT AE Data Issues Specific to F&B — What to Fix
Restaurants use short, practical names on menus and price lists. However, PINT AE needs specific descriptions and standard unit codes. Consequently, a data audit before go-live prevents rejections.
| PINT AE Field | F&B Problem | How to Fix in TallyPrime |
|---|---|---|
| Item description — BT-153 | Food, Meals, Catering, Lunch — too generic | Use: Corporate Lunch Box Chicken Biryani, Event Catering Buffet per Head |
| Unit code — BT-130 | Plate, Portion, Tray, Box, Head are not valid UN/CEFACT codes | Map to EA (each), KGM (kilogram), LTR (litre), DAY (day) |
| Buyer TRN — BT-46 | Corporate clients added for catering with no TRN | Collect TRN from every VAT-registered corporate client |
| Supplier TRN | Small food suppliers set up without a TRN | Add TRN to every supplier so incoming e-invoices match |
| Address — BT-35 and BT-50 | Office park and mall addresses stored as one text block | Split into street, city, and country code |

Common Questions
Does TallyPrime replace my restaurant POS?
No. TallyPrime is a back-office accounting and inventory system, so your POS keeps handling orders, tables, kitchen display, and card payments. TallyPrime then manages stock, purchasing, outlet costing, UAE VAT, and payroll behind it. Furthermore, how sales reach TallyPrime depends on the POS you use. Perfonec confirms the best method during the free readiness check.
Do restaurants need Peppol e-invoicing for diner sales?
No. Consumer sales to walk-in diners, takeaway customers, and delivery app orders are B2C, so they do not go through Peppol. However, invoices to VAT-registered businesses do, such as corporate catering and event supply. Supplier invoices to your restaurant also arrive through Peppol. Consequently, every restaurant must still register with an ASP by its deadline.
Which TallyPrime version do I need for UAE e-invoicing?
You need TallyPrime 7.0, which is MoF-listed with native Peppol. TallyPrime 9, TallyPrime 4.x, and TallyERP 9 are not e-invoicing ready. Therefore, restaurants on those versions must upgrade first. Perfonec, as the Authorised Silver Partner, handles the upgrade and the setup in one engagement.
How long does TallyPrime e-invoicing setup take for a restaurant group?
It depends mainly on how many supplier and corporate client records need fixing. Missing TRNs and generic item names take the most time, while the technical setup is quicker. Perfonec consequently gives a clear timeline after the free readiness check. Moreover, the pilot phase carries zero fines, so early testing costs nothing.
