QuickBooks UAE E-Invoicing Deadlines: Which Date Applies?

By Akanksha Surana, CEO — Perfonec Computers  |  November 2026

Quick Answer

Your UAE e-invoicing date depends on your annual revenue and your type of organisation. It does not depend on whether you use QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online. Businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more go live on 1 January 2027. Other businesses go live on 1 July 2027.

Step 1: Find your phase

Verdict: Revenue decides your phase. If your annual revenue is AED 50 million or more, you are in Phase 1. If it is below AED 50 million, you are in Phase 2. Government entities follow their own timetable in Phase 3.

Is your annual revenue below AED 50 million?Smaller-business timetable appliesPhase 2

However, two points need confirming for your own business. First, the Ministry of Finance sets which financial year counts for the AED 50 million test, and several guides point to your latest financial statements. Second, the Ministry also sets which businesses are in scope. Therefore, please confirm both points with your tax adviser or provider before you plan around a date.

The 30 October 2026 date has just passed

If your revenue is AED 50 million or more and you have not appointed a provider: the date to appoint one was 30 October 2026. The Ministry extended it once, from 31 July 2026. Published summaries of the Ministry’s June 2026 presentation say it would grant no further extension. Check the Ministry of Finance e-invoicing page for the current position, appoint an accredited provider now, and speak to your tax adviser about your exposure. The go-live date of 1 January 2027 did not change.

You can compare providers on the official Ministry of Finance list of accredited service providers. Furthermore, a provider only moves your invoices. Your QuickBooks data also has to be correct before anything can go through the network.

Plan for Phase 1: go-live on 1 January 2027

Verdict: Eight weeks is tight. It works only if your data is already reasonably clean. If it is not, tell your provider early and work in priority order, starting with your largest customers.
WeeksTaskWhy it matters
Week 1Appoint a provider and confirm your QuickBooks versionThe provider connects you to the network. QuickBooks Desktop 2016 and older needs an upgrade first
Weeks 1 to 3Audit customer, supplier, and item dataMissing tax numbers and vague item names cause most rejections
Weeks 2 to 4Fix the dataCollecting customer tax numbers depends on customer replies, so start early
Weeks 3 to 5Configure the QuickBooks connectionQBESync connects QuickBooks Desktop 2017 to 2024 and QuickBooks Online
Weeks 5 to 7Test every invoice type you raiseStandard, credit note, advance, export, free zone, multi-currency, and incoming
Week 8Train the team and go liveFirst live invoices go through the network

Plan for Phase 2: go-live on 1 July 2027

Verdict: Phase 2 businesses have time, and that time is the advantage. Use November to February for data work, because nothing legally falls due before 31 March 2027.
WhenTask
November to December 2026Audit customer, supplier, and item records. Check your QuickBooks version
January to February 2027Fix the data. Collect missing customer tax numbers. Rename vague items. Split addresses
By 31 March 2027Appoint an accredited service provider
April to May 2027Connect QuickBooks. Test every invoice type you raise during the pilot phase
June 2027Train your accounts team. Run a final check
1 July 2027Go live

You may receive e-invoices before your own go-live

Larger suppliers go live on 1 January 2027. Buyers must be able to receive e-invoices through the network. Therefore, a business in Phase 2 may start receiving e-invoices from its larger suppliers before its own go-live date. Ask your key suppliers when they plan to start, and ask your provider how incoming invoices will reach QuickBooks.

Does your QuickBooks version change the date?

Verdict: No. Your date stays the same on every version. However, QuickBooks Desktop 2016 and older cannot support the connection, so you must upgrade before setup.
QuickBooks versionChanges your date? What to do
QuickBooks Desktop 2017 to 2024NoConnect through QBESync after the data audit
QuickBooks OnlineNoConnect through QBESync after the data audit
QuickBooks EnterpriseNoConfirm with Perfonec before setup
QuickBooks Desktop 2016 and olderNo, but you must upgradeUpgrade to 2017 or newer before any setup

Fines after the go-live date

FailureFine
Not implementing e-invoicingAED 5,000 per month, with no upper cap
Each non-compliant invoiceAED 100, capped at AED 5,000 per month
Maximum combinedAED 10,000 per month

The pilot phase carries no fines. Consequently, mistakes found while testing cost nothing, and testing early is the cheapest way to find them.

What to do this week

  1. Confirm your phase. Check your revenue against the AED 50 million line, and ask your adviser which year counts.
  2. Check your QuickBooks version. Desktop 2016 and older needs an upgrade.
  3. Count the gaps. Export your customer list and count how many records have no tax registration number.
  4. List your invoice types. Write down the types you raise, such as standard, credit note, export, and free zone.
  5. Choose a provider. If you are in Phase 1, do this first.

Common questions

Which UAE e-invoicing date applies to my QuickBooks business?

It depends on your annual revenue. Businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more go live on 1 January 2027. Businesses below AED 50 million go live on 1 July 2027, and government entities on 1 October 2027. Furthermore, your QuickBooks version does not change your date.

Does QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online change my deadline?

No. The deadline depends on your revenue and organisation type, not your software. However, QuickBooks Desktop 2016 and older needs an upgrade to 2017 or newer before any connection can be set up.

I missed the 30 October 2026 date. What should I do?

The date applied to businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more. Appoint an accredited provider now, check the Ministry of Finance e-invoicing page for the current position, and speak to your tax adviser about your exposure. The go-live date of 1 January 2027 did not change.

Can I start before my date?

Yes. The pilot phase has been open since 1 July 2026, and no fines apply while you test. Therefore, starting early gives you time to fix data problems at no cost.

Will I receive e-invoices before my own go-live date?

You may. Larger suppliers go live on 1 January 2027, and buyers must be able to receive e-invoices through the network. Ask your key suppliers when they plan to start, and ask your provider how incoming invoices will reach QuickBooks.
