Zoho Books — MoF-Listed Approved ASP and E-Invoicing Solution Provider

What this means: Zoho Books is now listed by the UAE Ministry of Finance as an Approved ASP and E-Invoicing Solution Provider. Consequently, the Peppol e-invoicing process is fully built into Zoho Books — and no external ASP subscription is needed from you.

How the Direct Peppol Connection Works

When you confirm a B2B invoice in Zoho Books, the platform creates the PINT AE XML directly, validates all 17 mandatory fields, and transmits it through the UAE Peppol network to the buyer. The send status — sent, delivered, or rejected — appears in your Zoho Books dashboard automatically.

Your accounts team does nothing different. The whole Peppol transmission runs in the background after every confirmed B2B invoice. Furthermore, Zoho Books now joins TallyPrime 7.0 as a platform with direct built-in Peppol — with no external ASP cost on supported plans.

Step 1 — Check Your Zoho Books Plan

Important: UAE Peppol e-invoicing is available on Zoho Books Professional, Premium, and Elite plans only. The Standard plan and Free tier do not support the direct Peppol connection. Therefore, confirm your current plan before starting any setup.

Supported Plans

Professional~AED 110/month✅ Supported
Premium~AED 165/month✅ Supported
Elite~AED 220/month✅ Supported

If you are on the Standard plan, upgrade to Professional before beginning setup. Perfonec handles Zoho Books plan upgrades as the authorised Zoho Partner in UAE.

Step 2 — Complete the PINT AE Data Audit

Why this matters: Before direct Peppol can work, all 17 mandatory PINT AE fields must be correctly set up in your Zoho Books account. This is the most time-consuming step — and the one most UAE businesses underestimate.

The Key Fields to Check

Buyer TRN (BT-46) — Every UAE VAT-registered customer in Contacts must have their 15-digit TRN in the Tax ID field. This is the most commonly missing field across UAE Zoho Books accounts. Furthermore, a missing buyer TRN causes every invoice against that customer to be rejected.

Structured addresses (BT-35/BT-50) — Street, city, and country code must be in separate fields. Addresses stored as a single text block will fail PINT AE validation. Additionally, your company address in Zoho Books organisation settings must follow the same structured format.

Specific item names (BT-131) — Generic names like Services, Goods, or Item will fail the FTA business rules check. Every product and service in your Zoho Books catalogue needs a specific, meaningful name.

VAT category codes — All Zoho Books tax rates must be mapped to the four PINT AE codes — S for standard rated at 5%, Z for zero-rated, E for exempt, and O for out of scope. Furthermore, UN/CEFACT unit codes must be set on all units of measure.

✅ Perfonec handles this: Perfonec runs the complete 17-field PINT AE data audit for UAE Zoho Books accounts as part of the standard setup service. We check, identify, and fix every gap before the direct Peppol connection is enabled.

Step 3 — Enable and Configure Direct Peppol

What needs to be done: Once the data audit is complete, the direct Peppol e-invoicing connection must be enabled and fully configured in your Zoho Books account settings.

Configuration Checklist

  • Enable UAE e-invoicing — turn on in Zoho Books Settings → E-Invoicing
  • Credit note type 381 — configure credit notes as PINT AE document type 381 with original invoice reference in BT-25
  • Advance payment invoices — set up per UAE E-Invoicing Guidelines Version 1.1
  • Free zone beneficiary field — configure for DMCC, JAFZA, IFZA, DIFC, ADGM, and RAKEZ businesses
  • Tax rate mapping — confirm all Zoho Books tax rates are mapped to S, Z, E, O PINT AE codes
  • Test connection — verify the direct Peppol connection is active before pilot testing begins
✅ Perfonec handles this: Perfonec handles the full Zoho Books direct Peppol configuration as the authorised Zoho Partner in UAE — including all UAE-specific settings, free zone fields, and credit note configuration per Version 1.1.

Step 4 — Test During the Pilot Phase and Go Live

✅ Pilot phase is open now: The UAE e-invoicing pilot phase has been open since 1 July 2026 with zero financial penalties for any errors. Use this window to test all invoice types before the mandatory deadline carries financial consequences.

Invoice Types to Test

Common Questions

Does Zoho Books now work like TallyPrime 7.0 for UAE e-invoicing?

Yes. Both Zoho Books and TallyPrime 7.0 now have direct Peppol e-invoicing built in — with no external ASP subscription needed. However, they are different platforms suited to different business types. TallyPrime 7.0 is strongest for UAE trading, manufacturing, and stock-heavy businesses. Zoho Books suits small businesses, startups, and businesses already using the Zoho suite.

Do I still need to do anything to set up e-invoicing in Zoho Books?

Yes. Zoho Books being a MoF-listed ASP does not automatically turn on e-invoicing in your account. You still need to complete the PINT AE data audit, map VAT category codes, and enable the direct Peppol connection in settings. Consequently, contact Perfonec for a free readiness check before your deadline.

Which Zoho Books plan do I need for UAE e-invoicing?

You need Professional (~AED 110/month), Premium (~AED 165/month), or Elite (~AED 220/month). The Standard plan and Free tier do not support the direct Peppol connection. If you are currently on Standard, you need to upgrade before setup can begin. Perfonec handles plan upgrades as the authorised Zoho Partner in UAE.

How long does Zoho Books UAE e-invoicing setup take?

A standard Zoho Books UAE e-invoicing setup with Perfonec takes 3 to 6 weeks — covering plan check, PINT AE data audit, direct Peppol configuration, pilot testing, and team training. Perfonec provides a free readiness check and clear timeline before any work begins.
